Honorary Members of the Library are its employees and retirees, members of the Governing Council and members of the Library Association Rijeka. The director of the Library may at his/her discretion award Honorary Membership to individuals. Honorary Members do not pay membership fee.
Employees of certain institutions, organizations, union members, etc. may become members of the Library in accordance with the agreement concluded between the Library and these institutions, organizations, unions, etc.
In order to become a Library member, you must pay a fee. The membership is valid for a period of one year. You are required to provide an ID and fill in an application form.
Library materials are given on loan or may be used in the Library.
Reference Books and materials from other special collections, as well as newspapers and magazines, may only be used in the Library.
Exceptionally, a visitor to the Library may use the library materials only once without registration, however only in the Library and with a special approval of a librarian in charge. For such one-time use, the visitor is required to provide an ID card or any other identification document.

Borrowing

Library users are personally responsible for any borrowed item (a parent/guardian is responsible for minors). The member is responsible for any damage of library materials, so we recommend that the condition of the items be checked upon borrowing and any possible defacement or damage be immediately reported to the librarian.

Members may borrow up to three items for a 30-day loan period.
Exceptionally, more books may be borrowed for a scientific or professional work, with a special permission from the Library Director.

Upon expiry of the loan period, the items must be returned or renewed for another loan period of 30 days.
The loan period may be renewed twice.
The renewal must be made no later than the day before the due date.
Renewals may be made in person, by telephone or by email.
The loan period cannot be renewed if the item is reserved by another user.
The loan period cannot be renewed for the books on the school required reading list.
For overdue items, fines must be paid before the renewal of the loan period.

Fines are charged for overdue items at a rate set in the Library price list.
